Gerber 07550 Needlenose Multi-plier 600 In Stock
I bought this because the gerbers we get issued when we go over seas have the carbide cutter inserts and not the standard cutters. this version, has all the same tools, but a standard set of cutters, which work amazing, i was able to cut a penny in half with no problems. the carbide cutters broke at this attempt. It has all the tools i need as a soldier and it has done very nicely for me, the pliers deploy with a nice snap, one handed as advertised, the tools all come out very smoothly and the locking mechanism is very strong and easy to use, the knife blade serves it purpose and slices very well, although not razor sharp at first, with a very little amount of sharpening on my lansky sharpening system it now cuts like a razor (25 degrees) the other tools work very nicely, ive used the can opener quite a bit and it works like a dream. the file, although not the best out there works very well. the serrated blade isnt that sharp and kinda sucks...they should have switched it for a saw blade. the sheath it comes with is very high quality in my opinion, i like it alot better than the acu sheath i was issued. the pliar head is larger than most other multitools and opens very wide. yeah the handles come closer together than other tools, but this is alooot better when working in tight spaces because i can get a better grip on nuts or wires, and i have never had any trouble with it pinching my hands as others have complained about. they do kinda wobble if not fully closed, but if you are gripping something they are very tight and strong, better than the leatherman wave i used to own, as they were kinda small and the handles were very wide spaced when gripping something, it made it hard to have a tight grip. I personally like the way gerber 600s feel when using them, i have never once felt that it was going to fail me. leathermans are great multitools dont get me wrong, but being in the army and using alot of different tools i feel that the 600's are better for my needs and do just fine with me, if not better than the wave. there was one draw back when i got this, I had bought the bit kit for my wave and that was awesome, so many different screw drivers to use...and the gerber bit kit for the 600 did not offer as many different screw drivers, so i went and bought the bit adapter for the leatherman supertool 300 (which makes all the screw drivers used in the wave bit kit usable for the supertool 300) and guess what? IT WORKS WITH THE MP 600 AS WELL!!!!!!! You just slide the bit adapter on the 600's philips head and it fits just fine! problem solved. :) this is a great tool and it will serve you well, get the one without the carbide cutters!!!
