It is very bright and illuminates a target in the pitch black at 40 feet.
As far as others "not being able to figure out how to..." whatever on this light, well, I weep for humanity. The on/off switch is a very obvious left-right switch. You push the lever left to turn the light on, you push it to the right to turn it off.
To change the lenses that they provide, you simply unscrew the clear lens cover and put in the colored lens you want to use and screw the lens cover back on. It's as easy as it gets.
I'm very happy with the product. It fits perfectly on my M&P pistol and will do what I need it to do. 5 stars all-around.
